The National Veterinary Institute (SVA), is the central reference laboratory for veterinary medicine and a Swedish expert Authority under the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation. SVA's mission is to promote animal and human health, Swedish animal husbandry, and the environment through diagnostics, research, outbreak preparedness and communication of knowledge within the field of expertise. We have approximately 350 employees and are located at Ultuna, Uppsala. We are now recruiting a Veterinary Anatomic Pathologist.


As a veterinary anatomic pathologist at the Department of Pathology and Wildlife Diseases, you will work within the routine pathology diagnostic service which includes post-mortem examinations, biopsies, and cytology. Histopathology and immunohistochemistry are used in routine diagnostics and the case load includes companion animals, as well as equine, farm-, production-, and exotic animals. The department has 40 employees, including 18 veterinarians. There are also opportunities to pursue individual interests in the field of pathology, including research in collaboration with other government agencies or external groups.

We are looking for a veterinary pathologist with experience in the field of anatomic pathology. Board certification of the ECVP or ACVP is preferred, but not a requirement. Fluency in spoken and written English is required, and fluency in Swedish is not mandatory but an additional benefit. Other required qualifications are good communication skills, being service oriented, and an ability to work well with others. The position is full time and is available as soon as possible.
